Leaving the sprawling palace which was once his official office, the former King Gyanendra rode out in a black limousine, heading for his hunting lodge just outside of the capital he once ruled. Just two weeks earlier, a special assembly abolished the monarchy, forcing the King out of his pink, pagoda-roofed Narayanhiti palace in the heart of Kathmandu. Despite the overwhelming show of unpopularity for the crown, the former King left with dignity and grace behind the tinted windows of his black limousine, in what must have been a hard trip to make.
